Most American teens have likely played a videogame at least once in their lifetime. Teenagers nowadays all they do is play video games. There are nine different genres of video games; Action, Shooter, Action-adventure, Role-playing, Simulation, Strategy, Sports, and Other notable genres.Video games are violent and are impacting the actions of today 's children. Video games can cause a great deal of violence around the world today, since kids see violence in video games they think acting this way is okay for them to act in reality. Video games also can get surprisingly addictive. If children start playing at a young age, they are more likely to be addicted to video games when they are in their teens and older. Since video games are getting more popular, teenagers and kids are becoming addicted and nobody can escape the addictiveness. Video games have been around for a long time, but since they have become something big more and more people have been addicted to them and it’s increasing in the size of the problem (Rooij 106). Since there are different types of video games to get addicted to some even some live in a fantasy world. “Players develop one or more characters (avatars) over time in a persistent virtual world. Examples include World of Warcraft” (Rooij 106). People have spent hours or even days on games this just to ‘keep up’ with the game and with the lives that they have out of real life. “People that have played World of Warcraft players identified a group of 10% who played an average of 63 hours per week” (Rooij 107). So people are getting easily addictive at games. In the end of being addicted to games this could mess up with the way they do everyday regular things. While video games can get addictive, and should not be played for a long period of time. The way that there has been plenty studies being done to see what the impact of video games are and the way that it will affect children in the long term. Social violence is happening a bunch now too with the way people are seeing things in video games and think that it is okay to do what they do. Just all together video games are not the best for people to play, people get brainwashed and addicted to them. Video games all together are a poor influence in the world
