“My mom didn 't let me play video games growing up, so now I do. Gaming gives me a chance to just let go, blow somebody up and fight somebody from another dimension. It 's all escapism” (Wayne Brady, American Actor). The content of videogames has most certainly changed ever since they were first introduced to society. As the world has developed, warfare has bettered. The videogame industry has become increasingly sophisticated and has incorporated advanced technology into violent games. In some cases, these violent videogames fairly accurately represent reality. Therefore, the theory that videogames cause violence has been established. “Ever since these realistic violent video games became popular, politicians such as Joe Lieberman and Hillary Clinton have repeatedly stated that these violent games have caused children and teenagers to become demonic criminals bent on the destruction of the American society” (Video Games & Violence 1). Similarly, researchers have claimed that some avid videogame players tend to act with malicious intent from violent images filling their heads. However, in most situations, they lack thorough evidence. Also, the certain correlations they find are invalid as cause and effect cannot simply be assumed. Essentially, their studies conclude that playing violent videogames for even ten minutes can give an adolescent a destructive and lunatic state of mind.
