Although the effects may not be long term, should parents simply accept the fact that these games could alter their child’s behavior? From more altercations with peers, to increased aggressive behavior, it seems that these distractions may not be worth the risk. Psychologists may never be capable of measuring the long term affects that participating in these games can have on a child, but the majority of evidence currently available leads to the conclusion that games with simulated violence are not beneficial to children.
Besides the behavioral effects that come with playing these games, they are also disrespectful to victims of gun violence. Especially nowadays when it isn’t uncommon to hear about some type of mass shooting, encouraging something that turns violence into a game is not acceptable. People sensitive to the subject were obviously not considered in the making of these games, when they should be the primary focus. The disrespect may have been unintentional, but it is certainly there. Making a game out of something that has destroyed many lives is not anything that should be
