Playing video games is another form of addiction. This fact is proven as scientists discovered that altered reward system in the brains of technology and game addicts is similar to that of drug addicts (Watkins). Many users of all ages are addicted because of the free online games which are easily accessible. Addicts are attracted towards games for fun and to spend leisure time. The users spend many hours on video games, which proves to be fatal for their health and future. While entertainment is one of the justification for these addicts, many addicts use the gaming world as a “psychological escape” as well (Young, 365). They even buy ipads for children of ages three in order to keep them busy, but they do not consider that their children develop psychological problems, and health issues. Addiction to the internet has become such a wide concern that next year, America 's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the authority on mental illness, could include internet use disorder in its official listings (Watkins). To halt further development of such addiction, the use of internet for playing games should be controlled by parents and guardians in order to promote positive behaviors and prosperous societies. Children should spend more time in outdoor activities to promote better health and entertainment. Parents should also try to get involved in this situation. Family therapy is an ideal therapeutic framework to treat the addicts (Young, 367). They should try to talk with their children and address their issues, instead of ignoring their problems.
