While planning and working on my PSA I decided I want to address an issue that happens frequently especially to people in my generation and that is Texting While Driving. Something is see everyday and hear it and the fatal accidents it causes. And I felt like people specially teengers need to realise the risk of texting while driving. I tried to appeal to the audience’s pathos, using music related to the issue and short video that can make the audience see the issue from a different point of view. The one statistic that stood to me while making this project was that Texting while driving is 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk. This statistic made me realise how scary it is. My overall experience was good I learned a lot of new features, I think the outcome was good not bad but I felt like I needed to make it more professional, the way I filmed it and maybe it needed more features to make it more appealing to the audience other than that I think I did a good job, I’m proud of it because I feel like now I …show more content…
Watching the video from a different view looking a details unlike before focusing on how the camera delivers the message. I feel my abilities with Adobe Premiere now are a lot better and I feel more confident using it and I feel like I know what I'm doing, but there's always a room for more improvements. If I had to do something different to create a better project it would be adding more features and effects to create a better project. I think the sharing experience was fun this time, I was curious because I wanted to know what the other students felt. Also, I felt my message was clear and concise. I demonstrated the Digital Age Learner, because a great deal of technology was needed to pull off this project. I needed to make sure of the video was presented in the perfect format. And adding the music with pictures and short film together, and making sure it wouldn’t affect the video

Young adults tend to lose focus as soon as they look at their phone screen. Simple slogans and catchphrases on billboards do not lower this risk; they rather increase the distraction of a driver. However Education Weekly suggests the idea of “stronger penalties” because it’s going to take more than “awareness campaigns” to stop these actions. The more forceful a consequence becomes, the chances of common texting while driving incidents could decrease. This could tame the individual’s mind to not even think about losing their focal point off the road.…

Washington State University researchers say drivers can be discouraged from the practice with public service announcements that evoke their fear of death in graphic terms. Looking to curb what former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood called “a national epidemic,” WSU marketing professors Ioannis Kareklas and Darrel Muehling recently explored driver attitudes toward texting. They examined various ways to discourage texting while driving through public service announcements, or PSAs. There is also evidence suggesting that texting while driving may be addictive, said Kareklas. “This presents additional difficulties for social marketers attempting to move the needle on this issue,” he said, and creates an even greater need for PSAs to dissuade drivers from the behavior.…

Distracted driving, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, includes texting, talking on a cell phone, eating, and even using a GPS. As it stands, it is a well-known problem that leads to many unnecessary deaths or injuries that easily could have been prevented. This public service announcement (PSA) from El Colombiano newspaper illustrates the dangerous reality of texting and driving by addressing both drivers and young adults through the use of text, imagery, and emphasis. At first glance, the PSA is simple and does not seem to mean much of anything.…

A visual distraction is anything that takes your eyes off the road. While driving we are constantly being side tracked by signs and advertisements we see all over the place from the newest restaurants opening, to the $100 billion Powerball billboards on the highway, the last thing you need to be doing is trying to reply to a text while paying attention to all of these catchy signs. Cognitive distractors are anything that takes your mind off the road like engaging in a conversation via text or talking on the phone, or trying to operate your navigating system while en route. The National Safety Council states, “Drivers talking on cell phones miss half of the information in their driving environment” (National Safety Council) which causes people to become unaware of their surroundings. And lastly, manual distractions which are any distractors causing you to take your hands off the wheel such as reaching for your phone to send that quick text.…

This current semester I am enrolled in Professor Zack’s Media Production I class. Our first project of the semester was a silent film that would focus on someone or something involving a lock and a key while expressing an emotion. This project wasn’t a solo project, but instead involved working with one other person. The lock and key could be metaphoric or literal and from that concept we had to tell a story in twelve to fifteen shots. Our idea was to convey a young musician finding the right “key” on his guitar and “unlock” the excitement (which was our assigned emotion) inside of him.…
