Video Analysis Of The Jane Elliot: Doll Video

Decent Essays
For the Jane Elliot video, the scene I think I will remember is when the African-American man finally spoke up. He made a very good point about how he cannot pick his daughter up from school because he feared she would be treated differently if he did. This impacted me and I believe that it impacted many of the white participants in the video. I will remember this moment because it taught me how African-Americans feel about our society.
The scene I will remember the most from the doll video is when the African-American child said that she would rather be white. This made me realize that even African-American children know that whites are considered to be better people by society. The child even said that she did not like her skin color. A

This part of the video made me realize that people associate educated speaking with white people. It is implied by this that only white people are educated. The racism that this conveyed made me realize negatively stereotypes can impact people. This is why I remember this part of the video.
From the pastor video, I think I will remember the scene where the pastor says that he wants to segregate all homosexual people until they die off. This was a very surprising thing to hear from a pastor. The bible teaches that we should all love one another. If this pastor wanted to teach the Word of God, he should not provoke the segregation of any person based on their attributes. This is why I will remember this part of the video.
For the church member video, I will remember the point when the woman denied that the pastor was wrong when the interviewer made the point that other pastors say that his message is wrong. The woman was not following the Bible when she agreed with the pastor. Even after learning that many other pastors saw it as wrong, she still believed that her pastor was

It is important to shed light on the injustices of African Americans; such as Trayvon Martin born on February 6, 1995 and died on February 26, 2012, have to endure in this country. This is a legal problem centered on black women and men being gunned down by police officers prior to any chance for the judicial system to do its work, with police officers or a state actor who walk away with no repercussion. This was truly a heartfelt in many ways as myself being an African American seventeen year old teenager could have just imagine how his parents felt of this tragic outcome. The obstacle that Trayvon Martin faced was unjust and unfair. Trayvon Martin’s death was a perfect example of the racial divides in America presently, because Black Lives Matter.…

It was not as if they were making up how racism was a problem and that people were not treated equally in the eyes of the law. Producing the video definitely felt strange. However, reading aloud and then watching myself on my laptop deepened the meaning of what I was saying. Another lesson taken away from this assignment was the fact that there are no women’s rights organizations asking for the banishment of this book.
