The start of my YouTube craze began with a simple, humorous video of Miranda Sings. Miranda, a bizarre, comically talentless and narcissistic internet character created by Colleen Ballinger, sings popular songs with a peculiar accent and excessive use of vibrato, performing various satirical parodies of musical artists. Resembling a child who inappropriately applied her mother’s make-up, Miranda lavishly smears her face with superfluous lipstick and wears purple cat sweaters and a pair of tight, bright red sweat pants with bold white text that reads “Haters back off.”
