Victoria's Funeral

Abraham Lincoln once said: “In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in those years.” I think this quote really fits with my friend Victoria Meyer, but if she were here right now, she would be saying “That is the dumbest quote I´ve ever heard. Don´t say that at my funeral.”

My favorite and funniest memory of Victoria is us and a couple other friends went driving on a four wheeler around the farm. Someone unfortunately let Victoria drive the four wheeler, and she drove straight into the mud because she sucks at driving. We all immediately got splattered and covered in mud and had to be carried off the four wheeler. Once we pushed it out of the mud and got back on, it was dead silent. Right then we looked up at the night sky and saw millions of stars, and it was one of the best nights of my life, besides the fact I was freezing cold and absolutely head-to-toe covered in mud. After a few minutes of quiet while we stared at the stars, Victoria broke the silence by saying “So, can I drive?” while we all said in unison: “NO.”

Obviously she wasn't going to let me do it, and told me all the things that could happened if I jumped. I still did it. It really hurt. Another time I told her I could sit on the top of my friend´s car while she was driving and not get hurt. Again, she told me all the things that could happen if I did that. Thankfully, this time I listened. In a good way, she was always like a mom to me, stopping me when I'm about to do something crazy or stupid, (which is a lot). Thanks for being so wise and making me a better

President Obama delivered the eulogy at Rev. Clementa Pinckney’s funeral. Throughout the entire speech, the President had patterns within his delivery such as pauses at critical moments and the rise and fall in vocal patterns. He would pause after speaking about God as well as forgiveness, as if to allow the audience to reflect on his words. Major patterns in the message included references to biblical stories, God, the idea of forgiveness needing to be directed towards the attacker, and giving grace. Prior to listening to the eulogy, I had read articles about the attack that happened at the church.…

The first section of the story begins by telling the readers about the death of Emily Grierson. Also about how the almost the entire town showed up to her funeral, which took place at her home. This section also mentioned that no one had stepped foot in her house for over ten years, for the exception of the servant. Colonel Sartoris put off all of Emily’s tax duties because, “Miss Emily’s father had loaned money to the town, which the town, as a matter of business, preferred this way of repaying”…
