This has happened multiple times, one of which in California where a privileged, white, Stanford swimmer Brock Turner was convicted of sexually assaulting a young women, but he was only given six months of jail time compared to the prosecutor's request of 6 years. An article written by Ashley Fantz addresses the lenient punishment for Turner, and his father shows his son’s narcissistic ways by saying, “His every waking moment is consumed with worry, anxiety, fear and depression...A long sentence would be a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 years of life”(Dan Turner). He takes a crime that ruins a woman's life and attempts to turn it around so that his son appears as the victim. During New Year's Eve celebrations in Bangalore there was a mass molestation of women completely blamed onto the women. In Harriet Agerholm’s article, she writes, “A “mass molestation” of women in one of the country's busiest nightlife hubs took place because they dressed “like westerners””(Agerholm). The blame for this horrible event was solely placed onto the women because of their clothing. The Karnataka State Home Minister, G Parameshwara even said, “They tried to copy the Westerners, not only in their mindset but even in their dressing, ...
