Victims Of 9/11 Essay

How can we honor the victims of 9/11? When the Twin Towers collapsed on that fateful day, I was barely 2 years old and was completely oblivious to the tragic event that had just taken place. Years later, my parents would always recount the swirling emotions and horror they felt, seeing everything unfold on television. The people who sadly passed away that day were ordinary civilians, both in the buildings and on the planes and of course, the brave firefighters and policemen who risked their lives to save others. Even though they lost their lives more than a decade ago, their names were forever etched on the Ground Zero which is visited by thousands of tourists. However, I think that more should and can be done and as a fellow New Yorker, I hope that my fellow brothers and sisters who perished that day would be remembered for eternity.

Even though most of us are aware about the incident, people aren’t particularly informed about the details of the tragedy. For example, some people think there were only 2 planes that flew into the Twin Towers but there were 2 more planes, one crashing into the Pentagon and another into a field in Pennsylvania. During the holiday, there should be parades, television programs and speeches by prominent figures to bring the whole nation together and to show empathy for the victims of 9/11. It would also be helpful if people do not spread false conspiracy theories about 9/11 being engineered by the US government because doing so would insult the families of those who have been killed in the brutal terrorist attack. Schools should have mandatory school assemblies to teach students about 9/11 and encourage students to help honor the victims by donating to funds which gifts money to the victim’s families or by simply volunteering at the museum at Ground
