As a result, it was not uncommon for racist attitudes do develop against these scapegoats, their perception that their chosen scapegoat was un-American and harbored alien ideas which were a threat to the American way of life. Those threats had to be dealt with even if it meant violating the Constitution or an American’s basic civil rights, as we saw in the current class, the Native American, the stealing of their land, the desecration of their holy areas, the incarceration and murder; in addition to the U.S. government breaking the contracts with the natives when it was beneficial to the white people and later on with Hollywood, portraying the natives as savages in the movies of cowboys and Indians, not as people trying to defend their land from the invading terrorist and in the present time, the government still does not want to give back the sacred land the Native Americans are requesting to be returned to…

Crime against the state is seen as a violation of the rule of law, while crime against people is seen as a violation of human rights, and both conditions lead to the punishment of the offender befitting the crime. In this process of achieving justice, those highly impacted by these wrong actions are often ignored; the battle between the offender and the Crown often makes the victim, a mere spectator. Meanwhile, the Canadian Criminal Justice System is continuing to do its best in addressing the dissatisfaction victims feel towards the authorities. Study of literature shows that although victim rights have come a long way and are continuing to develop further, they are not successful in addressing the concerns of the victim. One of the boys who was holding the small kid’s shirt put his face against the small boy’s face and told him “go back to your messed up country and don’t bomb us again.” They pushed him hard against the lockers again one last time and left. When the other kids were far from earshot, the kid muttered to himself, “I was born here, too, and this is my home.” These kinds of hate crimes happen all over the world to Arabs and Muslims since the New York bombing of 9/11, and these kinds of stories bring up a discussion about hate crimes against Arabs and Muslims.…

Victimology Life Style Exposure The life style that the three victims, Byers, Branch and Moore had would have put them in minimal amounts of situations where they would be exposed to victimisation. As eight year old children they would have had School Monday to Friday, where they would have been overseen by a number of adults and be in the company of numerous children. This means that most days of the week and most hours of the day the victims would have had low risk of exposure to criminal behaviour. There is also little evidence to suggest domestic violence in the homes of the victims, as however, there is only Byer’s fathers transcript in the Case Materials (1993)…
