My method is listening to an emotional and spiritual song such as “Rise Up” by Andra Day. The vibrancy and courageous technique she incorporates in her lyrics really drive the theme of perseverance. Day’s lyrics, “You're broken down and tired of living life on a merry go round." defines both me and Cinderella. Just the sentence alone, I can already interpret some sorrow, grief, disappointment, tension, and so on. My connection I have to elicit this quote would be when I was Iost under the monotony of taking care of home and siblings. This seemed like a never-ending task and a lack of free-time, which most likely ended in stress. Meanwhile, throughout Day’s lyrics, she transcends to a powerful uplifting chorus, “And I'll rise up…,” which creates a sense of ease and empowerment that completely disregards negativity and enlightens my inner self to strive to what is waiting for me.
