Veterinary medicine has always been a respected profession. Humans carry a love of pets that is shown throughout society. With that comes taking care of their beloved pets, and keeping them in good health. It is easier for veterinarians then ever before, with advances in technology and the development of new medical software, to diagnose and treat animals. There have been many advances in technology that have increased our efficiency in the animal medical field. We see these technological changes, not only in our everyday lives with our phones or internet, but also in our software programs. Henry Schein opened his pharmacy in Queens, New York in 1932, and has frequently reinvented the business to meet the needs of its dental, animal health and medical practitioner clients (Henry Schein, n.d.). AVImark also owned by Henry Schein Animal Health, is a popular PIMS with over 10,000 users worldwide (Logistic, 2014). Both these systems are well known for their ease of use and scalability that meet the dynamic needs of a growing practice. Cornerstone is created by IDEXX labs (IDEXX Laboratories. 2016). IDEXX Laboratories was founded by David Shaw in 1983 with five employees in the Old Port neighborhood of Portland, Maine. They were specializing in the detection of diseases in livestock and poultry animals such as cows, pigs, and chickens. They are now known for their SNAP tests, among other industry renowned feats (IDEXX Laboratories, 2016).
