Some positive change that I dream of making include increasing the wellbeing of underprivileged children, families, and veterans by doing everything I can to provide them with anything they need. I also wish to change the veterinary medicine industry by discovering new techniques and methods in order to further benefit and relieve the animals and their owners that are involved. Ever since my sophomore year in high school, I have volunteered with a multitude of organizations that strive to aid those who are less fortunate than others. In regards to underprivileged families and children, I have worked with local organizations such as Backpack Beginnings, Pathways Center, and YWCA Family Shelter. Pathways Center and the YWCA Family Shelter are both temporary housing areas for families who are transitioning from being homeless to …show more content…
My career goal is to become a veterinarian, and I have ensured that I gain as much experience as possible before heading to college to push me in that direction. Currently, I job shadow at a local animal clinic whenever I possibly can. The owner and lead veterinarian promotes hands-on learning, so he allows me to perform tasks such as checking the animals’ eyes, ears, and heartbeats, weighing the animals, and collecting and evaluating fecal samples. He also lets me watch dental and surgical procedures. With me being in such a setting, I have gained a lot of knowledge about pets and their health. For example, I learned that there is no cure for feline heartworm disease, even though there is a cure for the canine version. In the future, I could be one of the people who finds a cure for feline heartworm disease, and maybe some other diseases or illnesses that are specific to

Create Change Esther Dyson once said, “Change Means That What Was Before Wasn’t Perfect People Want Things To Be Better”. Even if one person creates changes in his or her society at a global, national, or community level in a positive way, will make this world a better place. Each individual can create changes in his or her society, unless he/she feels that it is important to society, that an action must be needed and the action that they going to propose in order for changes to happen. The changes that I want it to happen are; to have free schooling for students from kindergarten to twelve grade all over the world, along with women’s right to an education, offer free health care and helping homeless…

The world we live in goes so quick in innovation that we barely follow. Innovation in veterinarian medicine is not that much known. Innovation is everywhere, even in the horseshoes technology. We passed from ancient horseshoes only made with metal to sophisticate horseshoes who can health and protect the hoof from sickness. Data analysis It is clear that there is still plenty of room for improvement in the field of veterinary medicine in many different areas. One of the most important areas where improvement is needed is when it has to do with anesthesia, the animals undergoing a surgical procedure, and the staff who is responsible to care for these animals. There are many different reasons as to why this area is lacking the same quality of care that other areas might have. One of the specific problems appears to be lack of skill in some of the staff members, including the veterinarians and the surgery technician responsible for monitoring the animals that are under anesthesia. This is caused by the hiring of recent veterinary students and non- credential staff…

Veterinarians must have an array of knowledge on everything one can know about domesticated animals. I want to become a Veterinarian with a small animal focus, which focuses on the practice of small animals. An important role that a veterinarian plays is prevention of contagious diseases in small animals by providing vaccinations, performing preventative tests, and giving important advice to the owners of the patients. Basing off my experience I had during my internship, the majority of the appointments made are for pets that need to have check ups or preventative measures such as: vaccinations and tests checking for parasites. Because a small animal veterinarian does not receive specialized cases but receives all sorts of appointments, they need to be able to perform things ranging from cutting the animal’s nails to performing surgery.…

By working in different environments, I have gained a better understanding of what kind of work best suits my abilities and interests. I understand that veterinary work could mean early mornings, getting messy, hard work with seemingly little reward, and working with both frustrated animals and people.…

Throughout this semester, I have been introduced to a surfeit of knowledge, ideas, and concepts, many of which have left a lasting impression on me. All of this information has played a role in molding my current philosophy of education. The semester began with a video called TEACH, which followed four teachers throughout a school year and highlighted their struggles and successes (Participant Media, 2013). This video opened my eyes to how challenging teaching could be, the reward that follows the difficulty, and how important flexibility is in the teaching profession (Participant Media, 2013). Another video that influenced me, was a lecture given on the education system in Finland.…
