I can call upon a wealth of experience that has proved for me that this is the career that I want to pursue whilst simultaneously preparing me for it. During my part-time job at Sanfield Stud and voluntary work at Dressage Horses International Ltd, I learnt about the associated mechanisms of equine management, breeding and development, as well as a vet's role within them. Furthermore, my time spent at several farming establishments (four weeks in total) exposed me to the basics of veterinary medicine within a farming environment, such as vaccinating lambs against Watery Mouth and learning the main aspects of pig production during my placement at a large breeding company. Moreover, my time at two veterinary groups (three weeks total), exposed me to procedures such as the rectifying of a cow's displaced abomasum. My placements at both of these clinics has furnished me with superb experience of working with ailing animals, whilst also granting me the opportunity to develop professional competencies and important social skills. Lastly, I undertook a five-month sandwich placement during the summer. This involved working for ten weeks as Press Office Assistant at Ascot Racecourse and nine weeks at The Goring hotel as Guest Relations Assistant.
