From Paws to Claws and the Doctors That Take Care of Them All 1. For as long as I remember, I’ve always been interested in medical things as well as animals and what they do. I’m very good at science things and I suppose I’ve always been partial to dogs. The career I’ve decided to research, is a veterinarian. 13. As you might have heard, being a veterinarian is a good business, it pays very well $80,000 to roughly $175,000 to be exact depending on your experience and how many years you have been there, and you are around animals of all types however, there is more to it than giving vaccinations to your furry friends (Shmoop.com). Being a veterinarian is sometimes more than it is cracked up to be, between the high education you must have, as well as the actual physical danger tend to turn many people away. 2. Veterinarians are important for millions of reasons and are often hired by animal care hospitals and offices, but many people set up their own offices with their own staff to keep things both flexible and manageable. Being a veterinarian can be a private practice when certified making opening a personal office fairly straightforward although, it is not the easiest thing in the world. 7. Many veterinarians make a lot of money but you would be wrong if you thought they just “live the good life”, many people in any kind of science or medical profession simply do not have the time a normal worker does, as stated earlier they sometimes have to log more hours in per day than the average working citizen, but not only do they have to work longer days and nights, they sometimes have to work more days per year than the average person, so you may want to think twice if a busy schedule is not something you can work
