In my senior year in high school at Carrollton, I had the opportunity to intern with a local Veterinarian. The second day back to school I started my internship. It was an amazing, wild experience. Although I have know I have wanted to become a Veterinarian since I was five, receiving hand on experience is another story. Once you get first hand experience with the carrier you want to pursue, then you will know if that is the job you want for the rest of your life. When the bell rang for class change, I went and signed out in Mr. Skinner’s class. I changed in the bathroom into my tan scrubs with the Carrollton High School logo on them. I was incredibly excited; I had been waiting for this day all summer long. I left school and drove down the road behind SouthWire. I arrived at the clinic VCA. As I got out of the car, I put my hair up in a half braided-half ponytail and straightened my scrubs out. As I walked inside my heart was racing, but little did I know that my heart was about to be racing much more.

Williamson she is about to start seizing again.” “Just hold her Julie, so she does not fall off the table. Put one hand under her head and the rap your other arm around her body.” “Like this?” “Yes exactly like that. Oh and do not get bit, she will not let go nor will she be able to.” “Uh, yes sir.” The dog starts seizing and I am left there holding her by myself. I was freaking out, but I was also very calm and I knew what I had to do. I was about helping the animal and that is what I was focused on. The dog stopped seizing and we got an IV into her and started her on the fluids. Over night she did pass. She was an older dog and seizures are based in the brain. All we could do was make her more comfortable. I watched two surgeries after that and I got home an hour and a half
