Nine years ago when I adopted my dog, my family and I noticed that he limped, and that he had a lot of difficulty to walk. In fact, the veterinarian we consulted diagnosed a hip dysplasia, and he told us that our dog had to be operated. Fortunately after his operation, Chance could run, jump, and gambol again, without having to euthanize him. Since that event, I have always wanted to become a veterinarian in order to save animals. I believe that I have chosen the best career for my future because I have a lot of compassion for animals, I consider animals as valuable living beings and because being surrounded by them can be very beneficial.
Firstly, since I am very compassionate, and empathic towards suffering animals, people doubt my choice because they think that I won’t be able to euthanize sick animals. However, even if it does make me sad to end an animal’s life, I can put my emotions aside and adopt a professional attitude towards difficult decisions. According to the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, it is the veterinarian’s responsibility to determine whether it is preferable to continue the medical treatment of an animal, or to euthanize it, depending on its level of pain. It would be a dream come true to have an impact on millions of animal lives, as I will be there to take care of them, heal them, and try to make a brighter future for them. With that said, I can’t wait to come to the rescue of other pet owners, so they can live happily ever after with their beloved
