As animals grow older, they will start to face many different challenges as their body ages and different systems stop working as good as it did when the animal was younger. Geriatric patients will require a different level of care from both a veterinarian team and their owners to ensure they stay as healthy as possible. In addition, a veterinary team needs to be prepared to help the pet owner through the different diseases their animal may face, such as cancer, as the animal ages. With proper care and attention a pet can live a more comfortable life as they get into the geriatric stage of life.

One thing that is important for a veterinarian team to remember is that each pet and their situation will be uniquie and the treatment and the way client communicatin is handled will need to be adjusted accordingly. Sometimes an owner will not be able to comprheded what is happening to their animal, and they might miss vital information that a clinic provides them with. It is up to the staff to ensure that the owner understands everything, even if that means repeating something every day.

An important question that needs to be asked after ever visit is, “Did I serve the client? Did I serve the pet? Did I serve the Bond?”(XXX). These are the three most important aspects anytime a patient visits a vet clinic and it is especially important when a pet has a diagnosis as serious as cancer. Staff will need to take the time to ensure that every decision that is made is in the best interest of both the animal and their owner and the unique bond that they share. Every case will be a little different so a vet practice will need to know how to read the different types of clients they will
