Why do we celebrate veterans day? We celebrate it to show respect to the veterans. We show respect to them because they have made sacrifices and some of the veterans sacrifices are never getting to see their families again, which is very hard. Veterans are like children, they listen to orders and they do what you tell them to do. Therefore, veterans deserve the utmost respect because they gave us the same respect.
We do this because they sacrificed their lives for us and how loyal they are to us so it would be nice of us to show it right back. Douglas MacArthur once said, “The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war” (Brainyquotes.com). This quote means that the soldier sacrifices his life and innocents to protect his country and its people.
