Currently there are very few programs to aid veterans. The programs that do exist offer very little coverage leaving with very little options. Some of these programs offer pensions that at the highest pay around $20,000 per year.(10 Veterans Benefits) Though this may seem like a large amount of money when medical bills, a mortgage, and everyday expenses are added in this money gets used up fast. When the veteran passes the family that he or she has left behind receives even less money.
