Veteran's Day To Remember Veterans

Decent Essays
1. Describe what you did on Veteran’s day to remember Veterans.
Today on Veterans Day, I stayed home and spent time with my grandpa as he used to be in the Navy. His dad was also in the Army and served in the Korean War, and his wife was a faithful army wife. Unfortunately they’ve both passed away and are buried at Willamette National Cemetery. So on Veterans Day, we went and visited them and put flowers on top of their boxes. We walked around and looked at all the different headstones from all the different wars. After, my family and I took my grandpa out to dinner to honor his service in the Navy.

Veterans Day is one of the most well respected holidays in the U.S. Veterans day is a day to honor our troops. No country has ever achieved as much as the United States has. The U.S. would have never increased into the amounts of protection towards our freedom and justice it is today without the sacrifices our heroes have made. Our heroes risk their lives not only at war, but at home. While our veterans are out fighting for our freedom, they cannot be at home supporting and making great memories with their families.…

The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…

Their service has changed them, but they have served their country and most of them would do it again if they could. Veterans are the embodiment of respect and disciple. They have risked their lives to protect their friends and families. When asked the importance of veterans, I cannot help but think, “Do veterans feel that they are important?” I first thought of my grandfather, a veteran of the Vietnam War and one of the kindest people on this planet, when I was given this topic.…

We keep Lincoln’s promise for the veterans by, paying for their GI Bill, if they are fighting in Iraq, Vietnam or something, and something really bad happens to them, like them breaking/losing their arms or legs, or if they go into a coma or something, the government pays for that, because they care about our veterans too. Whenever the veterans get home, we can throw parties for them whenever they walk through the door, to make them feel like they are welcomed back, and that they are loved. We would probably invite the people that they cared/loved about the most. When my uncle got back from serving in the military, we threw a party for him and the people that were there were Me, My Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, Kaden(My Brother), Drake(My Brother), Cousin(Brady- His Son), Cousin(Djerrah), Cousin(Xevo), Cousin(Gavin- His Son), Cousin(Hannah- His Daughter), Cousin(Cousin), Enzzo(Cousin)…

The Effects of War on Veterans in Afghanistan and Iraq More than half of the 2.6 million Americans dispatched to fight the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq struggle with physical or mental health problems and often begin to feel disconnected from civilian life, deriving from deployment. As stated in the article “After the Wars: A legacy of pain and pride”, written by Rajiv Chandrasekaran and published by The Washington Post. The conditions of being deployed and serving for our country can conclude in widespread consequences within soldiers in which if no help is provided, could become permanently detrimental. Washington State is home to approximately 660,000 military veterans with 60,000 of them still on active duty. About 2,000,000 family members of these veterans are affected by the service of their military member. Washington State Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, writes about proposing an Office of Military and Veteran Legal Assistance with his office, the Attorney General’s Office. Currently, our State Law bars the Attorney General’s Office from providing legal advice or representation to private citizens whether it is to bring action on behalf of an individual or to defend an individual. This same law affects military service members, veterans, and families, but lucky for them, there are resources available to them to assist with their…

I think Philip Freneau did a great job in his attempt to create American Epic material for America’s own culture in his poem “To the Memory of the Brave Americans”. One pattern found in Freneau’s poem is his ability to connect the story to different historical people and events. He refers to the British as “Britons” in lines 22 and 27, the name given to the first people to live in Britain, although the British mentioned in this poem about aren’t the original Britons. Freneau also compares the British’s retreating strategy to what the Parthians did in Persia. Just like the Parthians used to do, the British were able to kill many Americans while they were retreating.…
