The Great War was ended by the signing of the treaty of Versailles. November 11

1938 is a legal holiday in the U.S. It is an American Holiday dedicated to all

American veterans for all wars. The most important thing done on this day is

parades and family gatherings. Visiting the unidentified soldiers killed in the war at

Washington D.C., there are no National U.S holidays because States retain the

right to designate their own.

Veterans Day is also called Armistice Day. 1941-1945 was the greatest

mobilization of the U.S military in the nation’s history. More than 5.7 million

people served in the Korean War. 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Holidays

bill. It ensured that federal employees get a 3 day weekend. It also encourages

The first Veterans Day was Monday October 25, 1971. Britain, France, Australia,

and Canada also Celebrate Veterans day. The 4th Monday of May Honors

American service members who died in service. It is celebrated for one main

reason. Everybody knows it.

In the United States, an official wreath-laying ceremony is held each Veterans Day

at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery, while parades
