citizen will fail to not only recognize but to also appreciate the true extent to which former and current service members incessantly choose to dedicate their own as well as their family’s entire way of life for the continued protection of the nation in which they share a home. Furthermore, Americans continually fail to realize the immense importance in which both these truths hold as well as the potential consequences they may possess. The United States first presidential leader and perhaps most prestigious war general to date, George Washington once said, “the willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation”. This description of veteran treatment post war time efforts has recently become more of a disturbing reality throughout our country.
