Veteran Employment Service (VETS)

During my second week being a volunteer in Veteran Employment Service (VETS), I was involved in different activities, one of them was to learn more about what I wanted to take out of the internship. They asked me that question last week to figure out and to thinks what I want to accomplish. During this week I told them that I want to have experience in the government setting and also to put in practice how to work in the real world because is really different to just know the concept but is also important to put the concept in practice. Furthermore, I want to work in my weakness because that would definitely be going to make me a comfortable person. In order to hire veterans in your organization you would need to know the goal and measurement to make sure the veteran is a good fit for your organization. Furthermore, hiring veterans in your organization can also help you succeed because if you hire a veteran that unemployed for more than four weeks, you can qualify for tax reduction and can also help to improve the image of your company. I learn that veterans have attitudes, skills and personal values that are difficult to teach. It is important that Department of Labor (VETS) share resumes of veterans that fit to a company because in that way we can help the people that protected our country. However, is unlawful to discriminate people because of Post traumatic disorders or Traumatic brain injury so when you are interviewing them for an opportunity of a job you should avoid questions of individuals with disabilities.
