Versey: A Narrative Fiction

Nobody could see Versey’s face, but she wasn't impressed by sand. She always had commentary about everything, and she didn't say anything when she stepped off of the Zipper’s ramp onto the sand. She only lifted up her leg, saw the bottom of her white boot attachments, and turned to wait for Tessla and Raidon.

“Where is it located?” Raidon asked when they had gathered at the bottom. The black surface on Versey’s face lit up and projected holographic schematics in the middle of the group.

“The location wasn't specific coordinates, but rather just a general area on this island. It's in a chest…” Versey trailed off and pointed to an area crowded with blocky generated trees on her hologram. “There.”

“Let's walk there now. The sand holding up

The breeze was occasional and it carried with it the salt of the ocean and the smell of fresh, clean water. Seagulls could be heard in the distance and that boat Tessla had seen in her scans earlier was just appearing around one of the hills on the other end of the island.

The palm trees stood still and got closer to the Ops Trio as they finished crossing the sand.

“Should we split up and search for the artifact?” Raidon himself didn't want to split up even though he asked, and he could feel that the girls didn't want to either. But the logic was undeniable, and although splitting up was usually not recommended, recovery missions were always the lowest risk missions available.

“That seems appropriate. Just keep your Piece on you, Raidon, but both of you pay attention. Contact the other two people immediately if you find the artifact and the chest it's locked in.” All of them agreed and went their separate

It flew to the keyhole in the ornate chest. It turned once and the lid popped open and smacked against the tree behind it.
“There.”

The key vanished into code and holographic particles.

All three of them stepped to the chest, although none of them intended to pick it up. This “artifact” was a thin and silver cylinder that was about five inches long.

“I was expectin’…” Raidon thought about it.

“Something that didn't resemble a shiny spare part?” Versey offered. Tessla said nothing either, but this was disappointing.

A yellow blur in the shape of a swirl slammed into the chest and shattered it to bits. The Ops Trio was also swept off their feet by this sudden twist. When they got back to their senses. The chest was completely broken and the small silver cylinder piece was nowhere to be seen.

Versey scanned the ground instantly and said it wasn't in the rubble of the chest or the sand. They collectively turned around to face the same boat they had seen before, now looming over them on the water’s edge. Three figures could hardly be seen standing on the front edge of the boat, and the one on the right was holding the piece.

“MMMM-hmhmhmhmhm!” Obnoxious.
