Veronica Roth uses the excellent writing craft to write powerful impacting books including Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, and Four. Veronica’s writing is so descriptive it’s easy for readers to visualize, includes strong character development, and gives morals to the readers. The craft connects the reader’s life to the story, influencing the reader to be brave, take a change, and embrace life as much as you can.
Roth adds great detail allowing her readers to visualize. For example, you picture a shoestring ready to be tied as she writes, “This is what it feels like: pulling the different parts of me up and in like a shoelace” ( character 3, paragraph 3). “I don’t realize until that moment that dauntless initiation had taught me an important lesson:How to keep going” (ch.7 paragraph 86). Fears stops people from doing steps into greatness. If there is only one way, you got to conquer your fears, no matter how many. “Becoming fearless isn’t the point, that’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it, that’s the point,” (Four, chapter 18 pg. 239). Fear needs sacrifice to be conquered, and strength, but what happens when a loved one does not have much? "....it should be done from love […] That it should be done from necessity, not without exhausting all other options. That it should be done for people who need your strength because they don't have enough of their own," (ch 50para 24). To be loved, you have to love, care for others. To have someone be there for you, you have to be there for them. Roth tells in order to get the best things in life, sacrifice is the key, and some need help with fear using characters.
