Vern Dosch Case Summary

Decent Essays
On Monday, January 23rd, I was fortunate enough to listen to Vern Dosch, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC). Mr. Dosch is a life long resident of Bismarck-Mandan, where he lives with his wife, Lynne. Vern and Lynne are married with 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. Vern Dosch has a Bachelor of Science degree, along with a Masters of Management degree from the University of Mary. As CEO, Vern believes if you “do the right thing always” your company will be successful and at the top. If NISC isn’t at the top and growing, they won’t be able to compete with immense companies like Apple, Microsoft, etc.
NISC was created in 1964 by three employees, with three customers; They have expanded to eight hundred rural utilities and telephone companies, fourteen million end customers in 49 states, and one thousand employees. NISC is loyal to their customers; in 1996, the company was sued for patent infringement. NISC didn’t need to take action because they were covered under their contracts; however, it would affect their customers that trusted in them. Vern wasn’t going to let all the customers be sued after they committed to his company; It wasn’t the ethically correct decision since it was their product. Six hundred

Money can only go so far; if you aren’t satisfied with your job, you are going to be miserable in life. Vern is a very successful man, who not only loves his job as the CEO, but doesn’t even look at it as work because he loves his job so much. This inspired me to search the whole field when looking for a job because money can’t buy happiness. Seeing how much he loves his job makes me look forward to the future and everything it holds. I look forward to finding a job that makes me as thrilled and successful as

    Bordenkecher Case Summary

    • 529 Words

Ms. Bordenkecher’s reliance upon materials outside the pleadings to argue that Plaintiffs’ claims are unsustainable demonstrate that Defendant seeks summary judgment from this Court, despite its claim to the contrary. Under the Maryland rules, when a defendant files a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim, and matters outside the pleadings are presented to and considered by the court, “the motion shall be treated as one for summary judgment and disposed of as provided in Rule 2-501.” MD. RULE 2-322(c) (emphasis added). The reason for this rule is that with a motion to dismiss the court considers only the allegations in the complaint to determine if the facts alleged by the plaintiff sufficiently state a recognized cause of action.…

I feel that along with the obvious constitutional rights, the U.S. Supreme Court had no other option than ruling in favor of Consolidated Edison. Under the 1st Amendment, they had the liberty to write their view on nuclear power and included it. I think ultimately it was the lack of due process caused the disagreement to escalate.…

Organisational Development “To enact a social innovation, an organization must have a capacity for synthesis – the ability to see and develop non-obvious connections between seemingly separate ideas and cultures.” (W. Nilsson & Paddock, 2013, p. 4) Whilst the traditional framing of social innovation produces a dialect which can apply to any situation, be it individuals, organisations, governments or even unrelated instances of social innovation, most relevant to this research is the understanding of the role of the organisation within the process of social innovation. This focus on organisational development stems from the basis that within any group structure the organisation is the continuous source, the ground from which the tree of social innovation grows and therefore tending to its roots is key. Put another way, the organisation is the ecosystem which either enables or detracts from the ability for a group of humans to socially innovate together (Cajaiba-santana, 2014), and it is this relational aspect that the concluding statements (relating to the works of Kaplan (2002)) of the above section were alluding to.…
