Vermont Characteristics

Vermont The cool breeze in the summer, the frozen snowflakes in the winter. The vast portrait of colors in the leaves in the fall, and the bloomings of new plant life in the spring. These are all attributes to The Green Mountain State, also known as Vermont. The 4 seasons vary greatly, but each have their own unique qualities to them which makes each season great in its own way. The cold, brisk winter. Snow covering every square inch of land for as far as the eye can see, the freezing air biting and stinging your skin, the tiny flakes falling from the sky, with no two being the same. This is the winter in Vermont. Cold, harsh, and very snowy. The dead, deserted looking scenery will soon be reborn and flourish again.

Vermont’s land began to weaken because of the intense deforestation in order to make room for vast merino wool farms and increasing numbers of crop farms after 1811. The decline in soil quality was drastic, which led to the decline in the number of farm animals the land could support. Vermonters had no idea how drastically they were actually altering the land and ecosystem.…

We have all been told that we are in charge of our destiny, that it is up to us to determine what our future will look like, and that we are in control of the choices we make. What if that were not the case? What if we have been fooled into believing that everything is in our hands and then we try our hardest to end up becoming something that has already been planned for us by a power larger than existence? The Naturalism genre conveys the power that our society and social restraints have on our destiny.…

When Daniel Elazar published his work on state political culture Nevada was an Individualistic state, and still is today. A state that is considered Individualistic has the following characteristics: government is viewed as an extension of the marketplace, government provides people with services they want, but do not interfere with the people’s private lives, politics are ran like a business, and the politicians are well-paid business men and women (Smith and Greenblatt 14). Nevada is an Individualistic state because officeholders run the government with marketplace tactics, achieving goals allows corruption to occur in many facets of the state, and its politics are left up to the professionals. A business-like culture is essential to be…
