Verizon’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Objectives: Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ, www.verizon.com) is the largest provider of wireless products and services in the United States of America with 114.2 million subscribers [1]. Verizon Wireless was founded on June 30, 2000 when telecommunications giants Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp completed a nearly 65 billion dollar merger and are currently headquartered in Basking Ridge, NJ [2]. Verizon Wireless currently employs over 162,000 employees across the United States and earned 125.98 billion in revenue for 2016 [2]. Verizon’s company vision, Delivering the connected world, is indicative of the organization’s desire to be on the forefront of technological advancements and the global adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT)[2]. According to Forbes, the Internet of Things is simply described as “connecting any device with an on and off switch to the internet”[3]. Verizon’s focus on the Internet of Things coincides with their mission statement of “as a leader in communications, Verizon’s mission is to enable people and businesses to communicate with each other. We are also committed to providing full and open communication with our customers, employees and investors”[2]. …show more content…
Amazon developed the one click buy platform to capitalize additional sales as data suggested for each additional click required, consumer’s desire to proceed with the purchase was reduced. If Verizon was able to capitalize upon these same principles, they would likely be able to capture additional online sales. Verizon should continue to leverage their operations to develop 5G fixed wireless technologies. A viable 5G fixed wireless connection will enable Verizon to cross-sell and bundle home internet and wireless connections to produce a more robust all-around service
