Verizon is constantly striving to make improvements within its employee training program, which has earned the company the number one ranking for telecommunications training in 2012. Verizon is committed to ensuring that all of its employees are properly trained in accordance with its corporate strategic goals (Ferrell, Gatewood, Ferrell, & Taylor, 2010). From day one, Verizon stresses the importance of the company’s strategic business goals, functions, and key initiatives so everyone knows what to expect and what is expected of them. As the company’s goals change, so does the training program in order to stay one step ahead of the competition and ensure that the main focus is not lost in the transition (Ferrell, Gatewood, Ferrell, …show more content…

Five of the eleven ways to change an organizational culture that I have identified in this case in regards to Verizon are: 1) role modeling, training, and coaching; 2) rewards, titles, promotions, and bonuses; 3) measurable and controllable activities; 4) organizational structure; and 5) organizational systems and procedures (Ferrell, Gatewood, Ferrell, & Taylor, 2010). When it comes to training, Verizon remains committed to maintaining the most effective and advanced training programs in telecommunications. Verizon requires its senior leaders to submit an Individual Accountability Plan (IAP), which not only offers a certain amount of control but forms a structure that will help with assessments of the company’s performance. Verizon has opened its horizons and is reaching out to recruit the highest –preforming students in colleges and universities in hopes that they can reel them in by offering them more incentives and a chance to be molded into leadership material (Ferrell, Gatewood, Ferrell, & Taylor, …show more content…
I would pitch the positive aspects of the company to them as though they have never heard of Verizon before; starting with the fact that Verizon is the world’s largest provider of 4G LTE and 3G networks that serves more than 108 million connections that will continue to increase on a daily basis (Verizon 's Employee Training Programs Ranked Top, 2012). The most awesome part of being one of the 82,000 employees of Verizon is knowing that you are now a member of a team that is constantly striving for excellence. Verizon prides themselves in the recognition it receives for their dedication to providing an outstanding training program and being established in eighteen countries.
