Verizon Hotspot Case Study

Decent Essays
Hi Angela – Unfortunately the Verizon hotspot is the device that Boston has been having issues with connecting to.

The r/s signal quality is below 50% in-house and at the warehouse possibly worse due to the make-up of the facility and location.

Here at the DC office we do in fact use the Verizon hotspot, however Recall allows us to use their (AT&T Unite Pro) hotspot which provides the four laptops and personal devices with a constant strong signal.

I use theirs in order minimize data usage cost to the firm.

I’m thinking that our only true option for Boston would be connecting to an internal wifi source.

I’ll continue to research other options.

Sites that could hold malicious codes and viruses can simply be blocked from access so that it isn’t even in their “hands” to make the decision. 2. A common struggle every student faces at Baylor University is the slow, outdated AirBear network. Whether it be the inability to print a document or simply just accessing the internet, AirBear is extremely unreliable. While an ultimate fix to the problem seems unclear, the solution is actually quite simple: upgrade the network. For a total cost of $999, Baylor can implement gigabit internet routers at key locations across campus, providing students with faster speeds and a higher capacity to handle more users. The general low cost associated with this implementation make it worthwhile for both students and staff using the AirBear network, allowing the facilitation of higher test scores and increased GPAs.…

Verizon started out offering landline communications. Today, wireless communications are much more popular in home and business settings. Even though Verizon offers wireless, they will likely lose revenue as the market for landlines dissolves. The competitiveness of the communications market is huge. The decision to implement a converged technology within an organisation should be a conscious decision, however, with wireless there exists a very real threat of unauthorised implementations. This ultimately creates a risk to the information assets within an organisation, even when there is no perceived threat. So in the security policy the organisation can state its stance upon the installation of wireless access points, in that at the very least they must have prior authorisation and adhere to specific configurations. This policy is mandated as part of the PCI Standard Of course, one of the biggest challenges in protecting an organisation is that malicious outsiders (and possibly insiders) may disregard the policy. Therefore in addition to…
