Mr. Craig has had pneumonia and now has an infection causing him to be confused. He wears an oxygen mask and has an IV for fluids and medication. As a result of the confusion, he pulls off his mask as well as takes out his IV. The RN is taking care of 10 patients that day and when she see’s that he continuously is doing this, she gets frustrated and this results in her grabbing his arm, threatening to put him in restraints, speaking rudely to him as well as providing the incorrect medication. The issue that occurred was that the nurse was rushing and she did not check the type of medication she was going to use even though Mr. Craig’s name was on it. The RN had two tort’s.
