There have been many women in the past who have changed history, but not all of them were astounding authors during their times. Mindy Kaling, a current author, comedian, and actress, is a prime example of someone who is currently changing part of history for women. She is currently influencing many women to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to in life.
Mindy Kaling, or also known by her real name Vera Mindy Chokalingam, was born on June 24th, 1979 in the town of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Growing up with two very professional parents, her mother working as an OBGYN and her father working as an architect, helped Mindy pursue her goals of becoming a star in the media. Her passion for comedy and writing grew more as she reached college. She attended Dartmouth College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attending this school helped her skills grow. She joined several different groups on campus including “The Dog Day Players” a comedy group, “Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern” the school’s comedy magazine, “Badly Drawn Girl” a comic strip in the school's newspaper, and “The Rockapellas” an a capella group. She even took off a semester of college to be an intern for the show Late Night …show more content…

This play was apparently a comedy about the actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck when they wrote the script for the production of Good Will Hunting. Her play was shown in Los Angeles and New York City, and while it was shown in Los Angeles it caught the eye of a very important person. Greg Daniels, a producer in Los Angeles, saw Mindy’s performance in Ben and Matt and was impressed with everything about it, from her writing to her acting on stage. He eventually offered Kaling an acting job and writing job on his upcoming sitcom known as the now famous comedy show, The
