He knew it was only a matter of time before he was discovered. He needed a new plan and quickly. He soon notices a wash maiden carrying clothing in a woven basket.
The maiden yawns. Tired and exhausted from working a double shift in the hot sun. She blinks-due to her sleepy eyes, and accidentally bumps the end of a tiny table, dropping clean, dry clothing onto the floor.

“You know, I don’t see the need for all this,” he comments. “With the stone, I have enough power and strength to maintain my form.”

“What an impudent child,” Michal mutters underneath his breath, turning to the Shadow.
The Shadow nodded, returning his focus back to the window. He swings it open, as the Earl continues his watch, and steps onto the window’s frame. He braces himself with one hand while holding the other out to the Earl.
“Quick, change and take my hand.”
“I can’t,” Michal replies, noting the Kingsman that are patrolling the grounds below.
“Do not worry about them,” he argues, “just take my hand.”
“There’s an opening in the servant’s quarters,” Michal mentions. “I’ll escape through there.”
“Lily…”
“There’s no time to argue.”
He lowers his hand. “What about
