Vegetarianism is very self-explanatory. It is a non-meat based diet. In the standard vegetarian way, not a single piece of meat is consumed when one follows this life-style. Why would one sacrifice literally millions, nay, billions of animals each year? Especially when something like vegetarianism exists? Most people’s response to why they continue to eat meat is that it tastes good. Billions of living, breathing creatures are brutally, mercilessly butchered because they merely taste good. There are other foods out there, delicious, mouth-watering dishes composed of zero-percent meat. Moreover, if one is worried about the lack of their favorite food, there are replacements out there. Tofurky, for example, creates non-meat “meat” products, that taste rather similar to their counterparts. And, there are alternate diets, such as pescanarians, which has fish as the only meat they eat. Many people start out as these, and eventually transition into full on vegetarianism. A large portion of restaurants also have vegetarian options, or dishes, like quesadillas, that can have the meat removed upon one’s request. In this day and age, there is no reason for the pointless sacrifice anymore. We are all apart of this world. The planet, ourselves, and every living things around us. It is our duty to protect and nourish all of those things. And, by being a vegetarian, you do that job. Your body is healthy, all of the living beings that surround you are healthy, and even the planet itself is living a healthier existence. At one point, maybe meat was the healthy option.
