However, vegans have lower chances “ a major contributor to coronary artery disease is dairy products such as whole milk, butter, cheese, and lard” (World Book Science Year). Their diets consist of high amounts of fiber “Diets high in fiber-rich food may reduce risks of cancers” (Farley). With elimination of meat, vegetarians and vegans experience less heart problems “ lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease”(Anonymous). People with these diets have other benefits such as “lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, lower rates of hyper tension, type 2 diabetes, prostate and colon cancer” (Anonymous). Vegetarians and vegans who have diets that consists of high fiber have many benefits in health. Removing extra fats in a diet lowers risks of disease and provides greater health benefits. A vegan and vegetarian lifestyle is beneficial to the environment. One of the simplest things for saving the environment is to stop eating meat. Taking care of animals in a slaughter house becomes extremely wasteful. Small things such as consuming meat causes chains of affects to the environment. Taking care of animals that need vast requirements can produce physical waste “In 2006, the UN calculated that the combined climate change emission of animals bred for their meat were about 18% of the global total- more than cars, planes, and all other forms of transportation put together.” (Vidal). The carbon footprint of meat is higher than other foods (see Fig.1 ). Raising cattle for food is one of the least efficient uses of water (see Fig. 2). The consumption of meat is wasteful “But a pound of beef needs around 9,000 liters- or more than 20,000 lbs of water” (Vidal). Millions and millions of people are going hungry because livestock consumes a major part of the world’s crops “Nearly 30% of the available ice-free surface area of the planet is now used by livestock, or
