My vase scene describes when Oedipus was killing King Laius, his father. When Oedipus found out that he was going to kill his father and marry his mother, he thought it was his adoptive parents, which he didn’t know. Oedipus didn’t want to kill his father, so he decided to run away. As he was walking, where three roads meet, at the crossroad, a man from behind him was yelling and telling him to move making Oedipus mad. So he decided to fight back by killing all of them, including the kind, but luckily there was one of king Laius servant who got away. After they all got killed, he continues and arrived at Thebes, he defeated the Sphinx and was named the king of the people, and married queen Jocasta, who was his actual mother. He asked Jocasta if she knew what happened and she told him that he was killed right before he came and that he was also killed at the crossroad, he soon realized that he killed someone at the same exact spot, on the same day. So he asked Jocasta to describe the king and when she did, he knew he killed him. After knowing that he was King Laius murder, he started to question his life. One of the servants of king and queen of Corinth came to tell him that his father Polybus was killed. That made him relieved, but still was questioning, because the Oracle said that he was going to kill his father. Oedipus realized it was time for him to search the truth on his own, so he asks to see the servant who got away on the day Laius was killed. When the servant came, he explained to them the truth about what happened and he soon realized that he killed his father and the women he married was actually his mother. Oedipus wanted to escape his fate by running away from his parent but that didn’t happen because he did kill his real father. Even though he thought running away was the best idea
