Sometimes I even wondered what could be wrong with me since everyone else was discovering their own learning styles and I could not. However, the results from the VARK totally changed everything. Now, I finally realize that not discovering one learning style that suited me earlier on did not have anything to do with a problem with me at all. Until this point, I was not aware that a person could have multiple learning preferences. However, the results from the VARK clearly showed that all four learning styles (visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic) work together to help me when I learn. Interestingly, although I never knew my exact learning style, I guess each person somehow has an “instinctive” understanding of what they need to do in order to learn things well. Now thinking back through all that time, it is interesting to see how I have really been applying all these techniques to my learning without even knowing it or realizing that they all combined to help create my multimodal learning style. For example, whenever I am learning something for school, I tend to first read through the work and take notes while either silently …show more content…
Honestly, it would be difficult to pick the top three because I often had the same results for many of the listed “intelligences”. For example, both the Verbal/Linguistic and Interpersonal intelligence got scores of 5 each; then Logical/Mathematical, Visual/Spatial, Bodily/Kinesthetic, and Naturalist Intelligence got scores of 4 each; and finally the Musical/Rhythmic and Intrapersonal intelligence skills got scores of 3 each. Since the test said that scores of 3 or higher meant that those intelligences were considered well developed, it seems like I have the tendency to have a combination of all of them in my life with some having slightly more dominance then others. Having all of them as reasonably high did not surprise me because I tend to like doing almost all of the things listed. For example, I enjoy reading, writing, telling stories, and learning how to solve problems logically. In addition, I enjoy solving puzzles, drawing, singing, playing the piano, and listening to all kinds of music. Also, I tend to remember melodies reasonably well, talk/communicate well with people, understand and help them, but also I like to spend time alone to think about things. In addition, I enjoy being outside, doing projects, and organizing things. Overall, I think the results were pretty accurate and added an interesting yet different perspective to measuring
