For starters, I believe that to understand my passion for literature, I have to explain my background a bit. My father, like me, is a fanatic of knowledge and books and my mother, although loathsome to read anything other than the Bible or the newspaper, has always encouraged my habit for reading. Together, they have raised me with the outmost passion for the written word, ensuring, at large, that said passion grew and grows. As such, to this day, I usually allow myself a few minutes a day to read some source of literature or another, varying in a range from a chapter on a novel to a short story. Indeed, it has gotten to the point that there is rarely a day that goes by in which I have not read some work of literature besides those related to school work. In fact, …show more content…
I have bilingual and gone to a bilingual school since I was young, meaning I got an early exposure to English, American, Spanish, and Latin American literature all from a young age. Likewise, when I was in high school I took French I and II, AP Spanish Literature, and AP English Literature and Language, all of which allowed me to develop my comprehension of the literary world even further. Thanks to the languages I know, I am very knowledgeable in the usage and meaning of words and can understand works of literature a lot better than the average American. Similarly, the AP courses I took helped me develop the appropriate analyze, research, and writing skills and helped me get a better and more in depth analysis out of every work of literature I can come

Cross-cultural Analysis of Bilinguals Most of the people who I know in the United States are bilingual, and I think that is a result of the diverse, and multicultural nature of the American society. So, it is quite easy to choose someone, and interview him/her for a cross-cultural analysis. I chose Amandine because she has the most inspiring, and eye-opening experience of all of my bilingual friends. After interviewing her, I knew that we shared similar and different linguistic experiences.…

The desire to experience satisfaction is one that is felt by almost everyone. We seek to find enjoyment in our lives through partaking in various activities that interest or fascinate us, as doing what we love allows us to have more excitement and refreshment in our lives. Life would become quite boring and monotonous if we did not have anything that brought us satisfaction. The way one experiences satisfaction in their life, however, might not always be the same; people may have a change in the things that interest them. As is seen by the speaker’s experiences with the river in the short story, “Two Ways of Seeing a River”, and my experiences with reading in my own life, this change could spawn because of a number of reasons.…

Reading was something I was practically raised on as a child. My dad made sure that my younger sister and I were read to every single night before he tucked us in, passing down a tradition that he believed had aided in shaping his own childhood. I distinctly remember my simple mind roaming along in the lands of Narnia and Middle Earth as such books instilled in me a restless sense of adventure and a longing to learn. This longing drove me to read more and more on my own, all the while my father continued to read to me at a higher and more complex level, that at the time seemed unattainable. Yet books to me were journies completely separate from my own world and I could never seem to envision them as anything more than a source of entertainment.…
