I have brought this subject up in the past. Both times I was not given the opportunity of state my side of the argument.

As a precursor: This is me informing you, my parents of a decision I have made. A decision I have thought about for multiple weeks.

I, with the funds I earned by house sitting, intend to purchase a Vaporizing Device. Within this device I only intend to use Nicotine free Vaporizing Liquids. The device I intend to purchase has a multitude of safety features.

I have read multiple studies about the effects of "Vaping" on the mouth, lungs and Central Nervous System. In subjects that have been "Vaping" daily for 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Lung biopsies shows no change in the 3 and 6 month patients. While the 1 year subject showed to be at a incredibly small increase in chance for Emphysema. Emphysema is a lung disease that causes small holes in the lining of the Lung wall. Allowing for less oxygen to be absorbed do to the reduced surface area. Compared to normal cigarettes were your chance for Emphysema is raised after only 1 month of smoking daily. Emphysema is most commonly caused by Tar entering the lungs, Marijuana, Factory Processed Tobacco, and rolling papers all contain large amounts of Tar. Where as with "Vaping" it is cause by the caking of Vegetable Glycerin on to the lung wall. Although as I only intend to take the Vapor into my mouth, this should not be an issue.

I have always found it calming. Whether I was doing it, or watching someone else smoke. And, ever since smoking the cigar I only have had a stronger desire to smoking.

This is why I ask you, may I be given the freedom to purchase and use something I desire. Something that has incredibly minimal heath risks. Something that I know I will enjoy. Something that has a fun, creative, supporting community. And last, something I know will help me. I don't have many things I do that I find calming.

It can be injected, sniffed, or smoked (NDA,2014). Cigarette smoke is an irritant and results in low-grade inflammation of the airways and alveoli, with increased numbers of inflammatory cells notably macrophages and neutrophils. These in turn produce elastases, which are proteolytic enzymes that destroy elastin, the protein that is found in lung tissue. The irritant effect of cigarette smoke increases the level of elastases in the lungs beyond the body’s ability to neutralize the elastases. Over the years, the elastin within the lungs is lost, tissue becomes destroyed, and emphysema is the resulting condition (Stockley RA, 1995).…

When a person smokes, harmful chemicals within the tobacco are released into the body, causing damage to lung tissue, mucus glands and other parts of the respiratory system. The first time the person smokes, their lungs may repair themselves, but may fail to do so due to the continual use and intake of all these toxins which damages the cells and prevents them from repairing and regenerating. Smoking can cause many different types of respiratory diseases; two of which, are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. In emphysema, the air spaces within the lungs expand as a result of damaged or ruptured alveoli, causing difficulty in breathing and a greater chance of infection. Chronic bronchitis is a disease that causes inflammation of the bronchioles,…

Inhaling smoke or other substances irritates the bronchi and bronchioles and it causes chronic infection of the lungs. An effect caused by nicotine, for example, limits the normal protective mechanisms of the airways with partial paralysis of the cilia of the respiratory epithelium. As a result, mucus cannot easily be transported out of the passageways and excess mucus secretion also occurs, which exacerbates the condition. Inhibition of the alveolar macrophages also occurs, so they become less effective when fighting against infection.…
