Even in a job that does not reflect masculinity, this rebel photographer can express masculine traits by defying authority to capture an impeccable snapshot. He operates under the social media alias Vic Invades, exploring the uncharted territories of New York City as an artist. Upon watching the brief documentary featuring this urban explorer on the front page of the New York Times, it struck me as a key example of masculinity in an artistic profession. The documentary first depicts Vic’s group running through the subway tunnels, untamed animals searching for the feast of photography. With a light mounted upon his forehead covering his face, the darkness swallows up his body; only three lights illuminate this dangerous tunnel.…

Stories about survival have been popular since, virtually, the beginning of time, as survival is the most important and primitive aspect of human lives. It is the force that drove our evolution and refined us to our current stature today, so it is no surprise that we are amused by tales of robust endurance against the most severe circumstances. The stories The Inheritor and Side Bet are two prime examples of our fascination with these types of tales, but, when comparing the two stories of survival, one reigns as superior, with more vivid details of the setting, greater and more dynamic characters, and a more compelling plot. Between the two stories The Inheritor by Frank Roberts, and Side Bet by Will F. Jenkins, Side Bet prevails as the better…

    Walter Waddless Analysis

It was unfortunate for Walter Waddles that he struggled mightily with his weight, a not all too uncommon affliction these days, but a surname like his was fodder for an unceasing commentary on his unbalanced gait brought on by an accompanying and rather prodigious girth. Further cause for ridicule from his puerile classmates at Robert E. Seaman elementary was the fact that his feet were splayed and compressed under the burden they bore, and while one shoe was worn down on its outer edge from supination, the other was slanted opposite from pronation and the result was that Walter Waddles ... well, he waddled. He thought that he had heard them all, and with characteristic aplomb executed peremptory strikes upon himself whenever he anticipated an upcoming wave of tired epithets.…

If is humorous that within question three it is revealed that in the book the verdict is overturned and Maryk and Keith are found guilty. So it is quite obvious that I do find this to be realistic. The answer that first pops into my mind as to why this would be overturned is because of who Queeg is. He is an eight-year Navy veteran and a Captain, as I previously mentioned. That is not a title that gets overlooked and as we have seen over the years and within the world we live in today people with titles such as that tend to get off easy.…

She is proud of her culture, but disapproves some of its beliefs. Men are considered superior and women are subjected to follow their every order and contribute children. A woman’s path in her culture is motherhood, prostitution, or nunnery, with nunnery being the only exception to motherhood. Her culture creates gender roles for the “safety” its women and the women must grow into their culture’s definition of a humble as well as a well-raised girl. Men are not given the same treatment as they are taught to protect and oversee “their” women, silencing women’s voice in the process.…

I’m doing my essay is over Johnny Reeves because he was one of the main characters in the story and there’s plenty of information about him. I also chose him because I feel like out of all the characters I can argue that he changed the most with all the things he did and went through. Some of the ways he changed was he acted completely different after joining the KKK and was doing awful things that people such as his mother would have never guessed he would do. When Johnny first joined the KKK the Klan went to Johnny’s house and “kidnapped” him and took him away.…

This Washington Post article by Amy Wang attempts to illustrate that, contrary to popular belief, American alligators actually feed on animals such as sharks and stingrays. It was previously believed that American alligators constrain themselves to freshwater prey such as fish. However, James Nifong led a study that proved that these alligators venture out to prey on other marine animals. Through his study, James Nifong demonstrated the importance of questioning ideas in order to discover new ones. After he became skeptic, James Nifong conducted a study that lasted for a decade and eventually revealed an important discovery.…
