It does not seem like there is much literature out there on the Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Parent Rating Scale, which is interesting because it is widely used in doctor’s offices for diagnostic purposes. I narrowed down to four articles, in which three discuss the Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Parent Rating Scale. The articles by Wolraich et al. and Bard et al. concluded that the scale is reliable and valid. The article by Silverstein et al. demonstrated that the scale provides valuable information in addition to clinical data such as information about a child repeating a grade. Thus, the scale provides consistent and useful information with regard to ADHD diagnosis. Reliability and validity reminded me of my Psychology Research Methods class from last semester; now I can apply what I have learned in order to understand and explain articles about psychometric properties.
