Vancity`s, a Vancouver-based co-operative was founded in1946, competitive advantage is first achieved by their innovative approach. It was the first Canadian financial institution to offer mortgages to women, first to use traditional media to market directly to the gay and lesbian community, the first North American credit union to receive an R1 rating from the Dominion Bond Service, and the first financial institution to offer its own socially responsible mutual fund. They are adaptable, specified to the needs of their customers. Vancity financial position is considered to be healthy. Vancity is a healthy and committed workplace because they are considerate of their employees and make not just their members’ experiences enjoyable but they workplace environment

Vancity holds numerous events and has employee based programs to help its original purpose and values of working with people to help thrive and prosper. Being Canada`s largest member -owned credit unions, Vancity has over $14.5 billion in assets and provide financial services to over 400,000 members.

Employee personal development is a major concern for Vancity and for that they have implemented various programs to help their employees feel appreciated. One thing that was initiated was the Employee Assistance Providers (EAP), for helping develop personal plans for health and wellness for employees. Numerous other offers were put into action by Vancity, such as; competitive pay and benefits program, three to six weeks of annual vacation.
