Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Netherlands on March 30, 1853. His fathers name was Theodorus van Gogh and his mother was Anna Cornelia Carbentus, who also was an artist. When Van Gosh reached the age of 15 his family struggled finically, because of this Vincent was made to leave school and get a job. His first job was at his Uncle Cornelis' art dealership, Goupil & Cie. Van Gogh could speak, English, French, German, and Dutch. He transferred to Groupil Gallery in London. While there, he fell in love with a lady with the name of, Eugenie Loyer. After she denied his proposal to marry him, he suffered a breakdown.
