Van Gogh Pink Roses Analysis

Decent Essays
This still life was painted by Van Gogh in 1890. It was painted when Van Gogh had comes to terms with his depression and himself. Van Gogh made no connection with the roses. The painting illustrates the celebration of birth and renewal. The roses were originally pink, but the color had faded causing contrast against the green. This painting has similarities to the finger painting of flowers we did in class. Both our paintings, and his, have a thick paint appearance and texture. The reason I chose this painting is because it was named ‘Pink Roses’ but they aren’t actually pink. I was curious as to why the title of the painting did not match the actual painting.

At first, Water Lilies, painted by Claude Monet, looks as if there is not much going on in the painting; however, that is most definitely not the case. Painted in 1914- 1917 this pastel beauty strikes the attention not just because of the painter but because of the mysterious feeling. Our perspective is downward at the surface of the water in which the lilies sit. It is in the height of summer that this was painted as the lilies are in full bloom. Their vibrant petals are opened to full extent which is what leads us to know that it is in the middle of summer.…

My Response to Paracelsus - The Hermetic and Alchemical Writings of Paracelsus Previously in class, I expressed my confusion in what category of book is The Hermetic. Is it struggling bibliography of Paracelsus with philosophy of other alchemists? An alchemy and hermetic text book left behind for those you are able to understand the teaching, or a documentary of Paracelsus work? Yes there was a short story “The rose of Paracelsus”, about Paracelsus and three ‘want to be’ apprentices, but it had a little relationship with the main book, except for the fact they share vague and strict expression of Paracelsus and his teachings.…

Importance of Point of View and Narration in Concepts of Literature Ethically responsible. Knowing the difference as to what is the honorable choice versus the substandard choice. Can we be held accountable for our actions towards one and other without a sense of what is morally acceptable in society? Section IV focused on the use of imagination and creativity to better situations in unexpected, often unbelievable ways. Section V focused on people taking action and the resulting effect of a community bringing about change. Although the decision was difficult, I selected a favorite piece from each section to focus on. In “To Love the Marigold” Susan Griffin discusses the use of imagination with regards to hope and our current situations.…

The passion flower is a widely cultivated genus with historical significance, including its use as a medicine, it 's arguably tasty fruit, its wonderful fragrance, and its symbolic use within christianity and other religions. There are many uses to the passion flower, although it is currently not FDA approved as a medicine, it can still be used as an herbal remedy. In the past, passionflower was approved by the FDA as an ingredient in OTC sleep aids and sedative products. The FDA revoked the approval in 1978 during a review by the agency, but not because the reviewers found passion-flower to be unsafe or ineffective, it was revoked because drug manufacturers were responsible for submitting information about the safety and effectiveness…

Artists have developed and used many different kinds of techniques over time, hence why they have similarities and differences when it comes to producing still life artworks. Still life is defined as a painting or drawing of an arrangement of objects, typically including fruits and flowers and objects contrasting with these in texture, such as bowls and glassware. For example, in the Dutch Golden Age period, the Dutch artist Pieter Claesz painted a vanitas still life, oil on canvas artwork called “Vanitas Still-Life” in 1630 which sizes 39.5 x 56 cm. Furthermore a while later in the contemporary period- the pop art movement, the American artist Roy Lichtenstein had painted a pop art still life, oil and Magna on canvas artwork called “Still…
