Depression is one of the worst things someone can go through. They do not feel themselves and if they do not talk to somebody about it and do not get treatment then they may never feel like themselves again. Sometimes if someone notices that their friend or family member is acting differently because they are depressed and they do not tell anyone because they do not want the person to get mad at them.
Depression is a mood disorder in which someone feels so sad that they cannot function normally (Field 9). Depression takes a major toll on someones life and makes them think about themselves in the worst way possible because they feel worthless, guilty, as well as hopeless for no reason (11). Van Gogh felt lonely, and soon after he became depressed. Van Gogh became so depressed that his brother, Theo, sent a fellow painter named Paul Gauguin to take care of Van Gogh. It was not even a month later when Van Gogh and Paul began to argue and so Paul turned to leave and Van Gogh followed, Paul turned to Van Gogh only to see him hold up a razor and cut off his ear Van Gogh was then hospitalized for eighteen days for all of the blood that he lost, when Van Gogh got out of the hospital he gave his ear to a girl named Rachel who was injured by a dog and believed that his ear would help her heal (A&E). Van Gogh is most famous for being a painter and he is considered one of the most famous Dutch painters. His most famous paintings are Starry Night, Sunflowers, Irises, and The Bedroom. On July 29, 1890, Van Gogh went out to a field to paint as he did every day, but this day he carried a loaded pistol, Van Gogh then shot himself in the chest and he died at the age of thirty-seven …show more content…
Someone can take a Selective Serotonin Reuptake inhibitors which is an antidepressant, a Senapine which is a mood stabilizer, Valium which is an anti-anxiety pill, counseling, eating a healthy meal (Field 25). A stress ball, stretching, yoga, walking or jogging, dance lessons, sports (43). They could also connect with supportive people, not sit for over an hour, do things that make them feel good, have more omega-3 fats, think only positive things, and go outside (Smith). Some doctors prescribe placebos to people who think that they are depressed because placebos are thirty-one to thirty-nine percent effective also, gratitude can also be used as an antidepressant
