Van Gogh And Leonardo Da Vinci: Painting Analysis

Decent Essays
I chose to write about Vincent Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci. I chose Van Gogh because I think that his art although it does have a dark meaning behind it is truly beautiful. My favorite painting done by Van Gogh is his painting titled The Starry Night. I am not a huge art fan but since I can remember this is one piece that I thought was done so incredibly well. The way he expressed the way he felt about death in this was amazing he took something so dark and scary to some people and made it into a true work of art. I love the way that he used the stars to symbolize the souls of the people who have passed on and at first honestly I did not know it was a tree I always thought it was a mountain but the way he uses the tree as a bridge from the life of peaceful village …show more content…
This painting with a meaning of death when explained by Van Gogh to me I would say that it bring beauty to something that seems as though so dark and scary. When it comes to talking about Van Gogh himself the man spark my interest. Since I am psychology student hearing about him and how troubled as a human being as he was really made me want to take a closer look and learn more about him to figure out was he was so troubled. Along with him sparking my interest the artist Leonardo da Vinci jumped out at me when talked about in class. This man is so well known and so famous for his painting of the Mona Lisa which was a marvelous piece, but learning about how he learned to paint people in certain ways made me think of him in a completely new way. I was so shocked when I heard that he would take people that were in the hospital on their deathbed with no family and take them back to his house and cut them open. This absolutely blew me away and quit honestly upsetted me that this man gets such praise for his work but yet his work involved gruissem

After the film had aired, both Theo van Gogh and Hirsi Ali received thousands of death threats, which resulted in the murder of Theo Van Gogh and the seclusion of Hirsi Ali. According to some scholars, Theo van Gogh’s troubled history with the Muslim community justified the leaders blaming the film that for spreading Islam phobia. Theo van Gogh was a well-known Dutch filmmaker/author and is the great grand nephew of the famous painter Vincent van Gogh. Unfortunately, Theo van Gogh was not famous for his well written books or inspiring documentaries but rather for his controversial outspoken opinions on Muslims, Jews and Christians or as I say the “former Donald Trump” of his time.…

I chose The Scream by Edvard Munch because I like how he used mostly warm colours to portray a tragic incident. The reddish sky in the background is the artist's memory of the effects of the powerful volcanic eruption of Krakatoa, which deeply tinted sunset skies red in parts of the Western hemisphere for months, about a decade before he painted The Scream. The elements such as line, color, light and shadow, form, and balance are to create the effects of horror, anxiety and endless other unpleasant emotions that the people who look at it may experience while interpreting this painting, just like how I felt when I first saw it.…

One could look to Vincent Van Gogh; whose works became no more extraordinary after his death, but his tragic story assisted in him to become a household name. The history of the artist surpassed that of his paintings, causing the painting to become famous in turn. This statement will be further argued and shown utilizing the works of Kazimir Malevich and Rembrandt Van Rijn. Each of these men…

The most disturbing work of Art from my visit was "Stairway to Heaven" by the Chilean Alfredo Jaar. This photography shows the workers of a gold mine in Brazil, the photo shows an open pit. In a first level, we can appreciate men from different ages, even really young ones, performing different jobs at the mine, in the back of the photo we can see stairs in different levels of the ground that leads to the surface. This stairs in the picture gave name to the art, being a metaphor at the same time, how the stairs in the picture leads to the surface, and how the workers of the mine deserve to go to heaven for a hard life of work.…

It's a smooth painting that is soothing in my mind. I don’t really question this painting. When I read the name and see the painting it reminds me that no matter what everything is beautiful. The project that I wanted to look into a little bit more was the discoveries and innovation of Leonardo Di Vinci. I have studied his work before and I am intrigued by all of his work. Through all the reading I have done and the studying I have done I have realized that he has in fact had a major impact on perspective, light, shadows, and color in painting and influence that it had on other artists. I think it is interesting that this was listed and how exploration and discovery apply to many areas and not just in science and the universe. Da Vinci is a leader in the art industry and has had many influences on art, even up until the modern day.…

Merging the Traditional and the Modern Introduction Throughout the history of art, a variety of artists made contributions in expanding the definition of art. Some dedicated their energy in a restrained way as a personal practice, some devoted their energy into fiercely challenging the society’s current aesthetic conventions. The two artists I am going to discuss in this essay are Marcel Duchamp and Gerhard Richter. Even though they lived in different time periods, they are both influential to modern art. They can be controversial for their particular artistic methods which are often being imitated but yet to be surpassed.…

The painting I chose was Frank Stella’s “Flin Flon VIII”. It is an acrylic piece on canvas characterized by a mixture of curving and straight lines that interlock, vibrant colors, and an emphasis on the circle in the middle of the canvas. A huge quantity of negative space is present in the painting and the painting emits a smooth texture. The painting is one hundred and eight inches squared, making it one of the largest paintings in the San Diego Art Museum. Its size projects itself on the viewer overwhelming them with its color and size.…

“The Scream” I really like this painting because somehow it involves mystery and insecurity and to my eyes, the rare views in it reflect a sense of how deep the feelings and thoughts of a person can be. In addition, the fact that the composition does not allow viewers to appreciate the face of the screaming person, is what has drawn me to it. Even though it seems to be that it was a lovely afternoon for everyone, it seems that it was not for the scared looking person. Although two boats are seen on the lake and two people walking very pleasingly behind, the scared looking person seems to be astonished and perhaps confused toward something. Hence, looking at this mysterious individual posing his hands on his face with his mouth open has given me the impression that he or she is appreciating something non real that no one else is able to notice; no one but him.…
