Of all the different varieties of squid, the Vampire Squid is a very strange squid species that makes its travel far below the waters nearly a half-mile down near the bottom of the ocean.
Even though by its name you would think it sucks blood, the vampire squid actually just eats zooplankton, and is actually part of the animals in the Cephalopoda Class (animaldiversity.org/accounts/Cephalopoda), which means it has a lot in common with some of the oldest fossils from sea creatures that lived in the past.
