In Thank you for Arguing the main objective is to teach the reader the art of mastering an argument. Heinrichs splits the task up into two separate attacks, offence and defence. He then thoroughly explains the three key steps used in order to win over any audience or opponent he continues to talk about different ways to use logos, ethos, and pathos such as connecting with them and knowing how it is they feel then applying the appropriate form of argument which matches their needs. It is also critical because it teaches high school students a skill that is required of everyone by the time they make it to college, and Heinrichs presents it in a very clear and easy way for people to understand. Thank you for Arguing is a very eye opening book, truly unique of its kind because Heinrichs has such a perfect way of presenting his knowledge of the persuasive manner which he uses, and the people who have learned it have become very successful themselves. This is a very good book for anyone in high school because if you can learn these techniques early you have your whole life to practice something that could literally change the world
